How Fiberglass Sculptures Are Made
Fiberglass sculptures combine glass fiber reinforcement and resin to create molded forms. The fabrication process varies with the sculpture’s design, size, and construction requirements.
01 — Design & Prototype Creation
A model or prototype establishes the sculpture’s form, proportions, and surface details before mold preparation.
02 — Mold Making
Molds capture the model’s contours and provide the working surfaces for forming the fiberglass components.
03 — Fiberglass Layup & Resin Application
Glass fiber reinforcement and resin are applied in layers and allowed to cure into a formed shell.
04 — Demolding & Assembly
Cured components are removed, trimmed, and joined. Internal supports are incorporated where required by the design.
05 — Surface Refinement & Sanding
Seams and surface irregularities are filled and sanded to prepare the sculpture for its selected finish.
06 — Final Coating & Inspection
The selected coating is applied, followed by inspection of the surface finish, assembled components, and detailing.

Remove loose dust with a soft cloth. Use mild soap and water where permitted by the finish instructions, then rinse gently and dry. Avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents.

Photograph chips, cracks, or peeling coatings and contact us for guidance. Sanding, filling, and repainting should follow a suitable repair procedure carried out by a qualified specialist.
03 — Joint & Detail Inspection
Check seams, edges, and recessed areas for dirt buildup or visible changes. Use a soft brush only where suitable for the finish, and seek advice if cracks or separation appear.
04 — Finish-Specific Maintenance
Protective treatments and recoating must be compatible with the existing finish. Confirm the appropriate product and maintenance schedule before applying waxes, sprays, or additional coatings.
Fiberglass Sculpture Installation & Placement
Installation requirements depend on the sculpture’s size, weight, base design, and location. Use a qualified installer and follow the handling and mounting requirements confirmed for your sculpture. The images illustrate general installation stages.
01 — Site Preparation
Review access, drainage, foundation conditions, and surrounding clearance. For outdoor installations, have the installer assess wind exposure and the required support and anchoring.
02 — Lifting & Positioning
Confirm suitable equipment and approved support points before moving the sculpture. Protect the finished surface and avoid loading thin or projecting details.
03 — Anchoring & Placement
Install the sculpture using the mounting details specified for its base and foundation. Do not drill into the fiberglass shell or improvise connections without confirmed instructions.
04 — Installation Checks & Ongoing Inspection
Have the installer check positioning and mounting connections after installation. Arrange periodic checks of anchors, base connections, and the supporting surface, particularly after severe weather or accidental impact.
